Miyuki Neon Anklets with Knot Technique
This anklets set is easy to make yourself! It consists of one knot technique and when you make them shorter, you can wear them as bracelets!
Bracelet with S-lon thread:
Start by cutting 1x 1 meter of S-lon thread and 2x approx. 30cm of S-lon thread. Tape the two short pieces to the table or clip them to a clipboard. Keep the 2 strands tight, by taping the bottom as well. Place the long strand under the 2 threads, making sure both sides are the same length. Place the right hand strand over the 2 middle threads, keeping a loop open on the right side as you do so. We are going to make a flat knot. Pass the left strand under the two middle threads (again keeping a loop open on the left side). Now go with this strand through the loop of the right thread back up. Do the same on the other side, but from the top through the loop and to the bottom. Pull on both threads and the first knot is made. Thread on both strands a Miyuki rocaille bead. Make the same knot, but now go with the right thread underneath. By alternating, you prevent the work from twisting. Then alternate between a knot without beads and one with beads. For a nice gradient of colors, thread 3x the same color and in this order:
- 3x green
- 3x Yellow
- 3x Soft orange
- 3x Flamingo
- 3x Pink lilac
- 3x Flamingo
- 3x Soft orange
- 3x Yellow
- 3x Green
Repeat this pattern until your ankle bracelet is long enough. We totally strung 3x the green color and ended with Pink lilac. When your ankle bracelet fits, it's time for a sliding knot. Watch the video below with the tutorial. For a finish in touch, thread miyuki seed beads on the ends.
Chain ankle bracelet:
Start by cutting 2x 12 links and 4x 8 links. Attach the clasp and extension chain to the longest pieces, using a 4mm jumpring. Then cut a piece of nylon thread of about 15cm. Thread this through the link on the other side of the lobster clasp (on the long link piece). Fold this in half so that the link is in the middle. Thread a crimp bead over both wires and pinch it in place, close to the link. Now thread 8 miyuki seed beads and a crimp bead. Then with both threads go through a new link (at a piece of 8 links), go back through the crimp bead and a miyuki seed bead. Pull this tight and pinch the crimp bead. Repeat until all the link pieces are attached. Open a 4mm jumpring and thread 3 rocaille beads. Hook the jumpring to the 4th link and close it. repeat for each link piece and then your ankle bracelets are ready!
