Mala Necklace with Natural Jasper and Jade Gemstone Beads
Start by cutting about 170cm of S-lon thread to make sure you have enough to tie knots in between the beads. Leave a 5cm piece and make a first knot. Then thread a first bead, in this example I started with 6 brown jasper beads. Tie a knot between each bead and then continue threading. For this pattern, after the 6 jasper beads, thread 2 jade beads, 1 jasper bead and 2 jade beads again. Repeat until you have strung a total of 15 times 2 jade beads. Next, thread 8 jasper beads and continue again with 2 jade beads and 1 jasper bead. Repeat again until you have strung 2 jade beads 15 times and then thread 6 jasper beads. Finally, thread a charm bead with an eyelet. Now tie a knot with both ends and pull the knot into the bead with an eyelet to tidy it up.
To finish the necklace, make a tassel from the embroidery thread. Wrap the yarn around 4 fingers (if you want a shorter tassel, wrap it around fewer fingers). Wrap the yarn around your fingers about 12 to 15 times and cut it off. Take it off your fingers and cut a new piece of about 6cm. This cut piece you wrap around the other yarn, leaving half a centimeter at the top (this is where the jumpring comes through). Wrap this about 5 times and then make a double knot with both ends so it stays in place. Cut the loops at the bottom of the tassel. Open a jumpring and hook it through the opening at the top of the tassel. Attach this to the charm bead with eyelet. Last, you can comb the tassel or twist the strands apart so the tassel looks fuller.
And then the necklace is ready!
