Step into the world of creative self-expression by creating unique hair jewelry using jasseron chain, charms and a hair pin. This project not only offers a chance to highlight your own style, but also to add an enchanting twist to your hairstyle. Find out how to make your own stunning hair jewelry with this tutorial.
Supplies
Chain:
A fine link chain, available in various lengths and thicknesses.
Charms:
You can choose charms that suit your taste, for the theme in this inspiration set I used the following charms;
Stainless Steel Charm 18K Gold Plated Sun Spiral
Natural Freshwater Shell Charm
Natural Cowrie Shell Charm
Natural Shell Charm
Stainless Steel Starfish Charm
Faceted beads:
I added these between the larger charms, this makes the necklace "fuller" without looking busy or heavy for the hairpin.
Hairpin:
A sturdy hair clip or slide pin that serves as a base.
Jump rings:
To attach the charms to the jasseron chain and the chain to the hairpin.
Flatnose pliers:
For opening and closing the jumprings.
Cutting pliers:
To cut the chain to size.
Step By Step
1. Choose your charms and chain:
Select charms you like and provide them with small rings (jump rings) to attach them to the chain. Cut a piece of jasseron chain to the desired length, such as the length from your crown to the tips of your hair for your hair ornament.
2. Attach charms:
Use flatbed pliers to gently open the jumprings. Thread the opened jumpring through the link of the chain and the ring of the charm. Close the jumpring securely with the pliers. Repeat this process for each charm, distributing them evenly on the chain for a beautiful effect.
Important: Use only jumprings and not split rings for this step, want to know the difference? The video below summarizes it briefly:
3. Attach chain to hairpin:
Open a jumpring with the flatbed pliers and thread it through one end of the chain and hairpin. Close the jumpring securely with the pliers.
4. Finishing:
Make sure all jumprings are closed tightly to prevent the charms from coming loose.
Tips
You can thread small beads such as faceted beads or seed beads through a jumpring and then attach them to the necklace, this makes the necklace "fuller" without looking busy or heavy for the hairpin. You can also experiment with different types of charms and chains to create unique hair jewelry to suit any occasion. For example, add extra elements like colored beads for a cheerful touch!
With these simple steps, you'll have created your own beautiful hair jewelry in no time, perfect for adding a special touch to your look!
