Supplies
Seed Beads White 4mm, 20 grams
Natural Freshwater Shell Charm Flower Silver
Nylon Thread 20 meters - 0.3mm
Crimp beads Silver Nickel free 2.5mm
Step-by-step
- Cut a piece of nylon thread at least 1 meter long. This will be the base of your necklace.
- Fill the beadspinner with the beads you have chosen. Make sure you use enough beads for a 1-meter necklace (if you don't have a beadspinner, you can thread the beads onto your wire by hand).
- Slide a pinch bead and a jumpring onto one end of the nylon wire.
- Bend the wire back through the pinch bead, keeping the jumpring in place. Pull the wire tight. Use flatbed pliers to squeeze the pinch bead tightly. Cut off the excess wire.
- Insert the nylon thread into the needle that comes with the beadspinner, making sure the thread is firmly seated through the needle.
- Hold the needle at an angle in the beadspinner and slowly rotate it. The twisting motion will cause the beads to naturally slide onto the nylon thread.
- Continue until almost the entire nylon thread is filled with beads, but leave a few inches of thread at each end for finishing.
- Repeat step 3 on the other end of the necklace.
- Choose the charms you want to add to the necklace. These can vary in shape and style (such as flowers, stars, pearls or other figures).
- Use pliers to gently open the jumprings and hang a charm of your choice on each side of the jumpring. Close the jumpring securely with the pliers.
Since the necklace has no clasp, you can wrap it directly around your neck. There are several ways to wrap the necklace, depending on your desired look.
Now your handmade necklace is ready to be worn! Thanks to the beadspinner and minimalist design, the necklace is easy to make and versatile to use.
