Chain Jewelry Making with Beads - How to Make a Necklace
Imagine a necklace that brings together the power of nature and the magic of gemstones. This unique necklace is carefully hand-chained and features as beads the beautiful indian agate, a gemstone known for its deep connection to nature and its calming, grounding properties. The indian agate is surrounded by subtle links that do justice to each piece of gemstone.
At the center of the necklace hangs a charm of selenite, which has been carefully wired to highlight the mineral's soft, lustrous beauty. Together, indian agate and selenite create a powerful synergy, a combination of tranquility and purification that is not only visually enchanting, but also spiritually empowering. Supplies
Natural Indian Agate Gemstone Beads Strand 4mm
Stainless Steel Headpins Silver Color 5cm
Selenite Rough Gemstone Medium
Stainless Steel Clasp Silver 12mm
Copper Wire for Jewelry Silver 0.6mm
In the video below you can see how to make the necklace :)
Step-By-Step Selenite Charm:
1. Cut about 20-30 cm of the silver iron wire. This will give you enough length to safely wrap the stone and make a loop for the chain.
2. Using your flatbed pliers, make a loop large enough for your selenite but not too large that your selenite falls through. Immediately after the loop, twist the wire around itself twice.
3. Wrap the two ends to the other side of the selenite and again after the loop, twist the wire around itself twice. Repeat until you reach the top of the selenite.
4. Once you are at the top twist the two ends of the wire around each other to create a solid base.
5. Use your round-nosed pliers to form a loop with one of the ends of the wire. This will be the loop to attach the chain to.
6. Wrap the other end around the base of the loop a few times for extra strength. Then cut the remaining wire with your cutters.
7. Attach the selenite charm by opening the two eyelets of the chain with your flatbed pliers and attaching the loop of the charm to them, close the eyelet tightly with your flatbed pliers again.
Tips:
- Selenite is a fragile stone, so work carefully not to damage it.
- Add small decorative wraps with the wire if necessary to give the necklace a unique look.
- If you are not yet used to wirewrapping, you can practice the design first on a less fragile stone, such as rock crystal
With these steps, you will create enchanting and unique necklace to match any outfit!
