How to make a Gemstone Necklace with Macramé Knottechnique
This necklace is super fun to make yourself! Use different gemstones and match them with our wide range of S-lon thread!
Start by cutting 3 pieces of S-lon about 1.50m long. Then follow the steps as shown in the picture.
Step 1: Lay down 1 of the threads lengthwise and tie a new thread around the first thread. Do this in the middle of the first thread by making a loop of the 2nd thread, tucking it under the first thread and pulling the ends of this 2nd thread through the loop.
Step 2: Now do the same with the 3rd thread and attach it about 1cm next to the 2nd thread.
Step 3: Now fold the 1st thread in half, around the chosen stone. Make a knot in this thread to create a loop with the 2 other threads attached to it and the stone in this loop. Make sure the knot is tight against the stone and the stone is securely attached.
Step 4: Next, lay the threads outspread and knot the left thread of one with the right thread of the other. Do this with all the threads until you reach the top of the stone and made some sort of net.
Step 5: Tie all the threads together and thread a wooden bead around all the threads (if the eyelet is not big enough, you can use scissors to scrape the eyelet a little bigger).
Step 6: divide the threads into 2 groups of 3 and tie a knot in both groups.
Step 7: leave 1 side as is and on the other side thread a gemstone chip on 1 of the threads. Then with the other 2 threads, make a flat knot 2x (see the video below from minute 2:45) around this stone. Now thread another gemstone chip and repeat the knot. Do this again and then braid a piece of about 3cm. Now repeat the piece with the stones and braid a piece of about 1.5cm. Now repeat the piece with the stones again, but this time use 2 stones. Braid a piece of about 1cm and thread 1 stone. Tie a knot in all the threads.
Step 8: Now it's time to make the sliding knot. Place both groups of threads alongside each other and make a flat knot around these threads (see the video below). This makes the sliding knot move from top to bottom as opposed to the video. Now thread 1 more wooden bead, make a knot around all the threads and then make 3 normal knots, by dividing the threads into 2 groups of 3 again. Finally, make 1 knot around all the threads and pull it very tight. Cut the threads by leaving about 0.5cm of thread.
The necklace is now ready to be worn!
