Making wreath earrings for Christmas
With just a few materials you can make this festive Christmas wreath yourself! The nice thing is that you can "decorate" this wreath yourself, you can decide what color and shape beads to put in it. This wreath is also nice for the Christmas tree ;)
Materials used
Satin Cord Dark Green 2mm
Facet Bead Red 4x3mm
Bowknot Charm Gold White 20x18mm 2x
Stainless Steel Spacer Beads Golden 4x3mm
C-lon thread Black
Stainless Steel Jumprings 18K Gold Plated 8mm
Stainless Steel Earring Hooks Gold Plated 20x21mm
Beading needle 0.46mm
How to make
You start by cutting a piece of satin cord for the base of the wreath, so make it as long as you want the wreath. Then you use a lighter to heat the tip of the satin cord (be careful not to do this for too long) so that it melts a bit, when this happens you press the other end of the satin cord against it so that they "stick" together as it were, and so you have made the base of your wreath.
The wreath itself is made using the square knot, the only difference is that you always go with the right wire at the top, instead of alternating all the time. This creates the twisting effect.
Once you've finished the wreath we'll move on to attaching the beads and the bow. For this you will use the c-lon thread and a needle. From behind the wreath we go to the front with the needle and hook the bow to it, then go back through the wreath to the back. Repeat this technique with the beads at the desired location.
When you have gone all the way around the wreath with your beads we are going to finish it and attach the earring to it. Make sure the c-lon thread comes back out at the end so you can tie a knot in it. After you've tied a knot, attach a ring to it using another knot, and possibly some jewelry glue. Finally, attach the earring to the ring and your earring is ready!
