How To Make a Beadwork Necklace With Tube beads
This colorful necklace is easy to make yourself! Did you read our tutorial on how to make bohemian earrings with Miyuki beads? Than you might be familiar with this technic.
Check our video tutorial or read the instructions how to make this necklace.
Start by knotting the C-lon thread to the tube bead. Use a double knot and some jewelry glue. Put the thread through the needle and start with the first faceted bead. Thread your fist bead and go underneath the tube bead, back into your faceted bead. Thread the next bead the same way until your first row is full. At this point it is wise to use a little bit of glue to secure your last faceted bead to the tube bead (this will prevent the last bead from slipping of the tube bead when you are working on the second and third row).
For the second row, we use 4mm seed beads. We would recommend you to sort out the same sizes, this way the end result will look the best. Thread a seed bead on your needle. When you look close, you will see a 'bridge' of thread in between the faceted beads from the first row. This is wat we will use to secure the seed beads to the second row. After you tread the first seed bead, go trough this 'bridge' and back into the seed bead. Because the seed beads are smaller than the faceted beads, you can use 2 seed beads for each 'bridge'. Repeat this step until the second row is also full.
For the last row, we will be using 2 beads at the same time. Start by treading a acrylic bead and a spacer bead. Go through the 'bridge' (we made in between the seed beads) and back through only the spacer bead. Repeat this step until you used the last bridge. Now only thread a acrylic bead and go through the last loop and back through the acrylic bead.
To tie off your work, do the following: Go back to through the faceted bead (the one below your last acrylic bead), go underneath the tube bead and back into the faceted- and seed bead. Knot the C-lon thread to the little 'bridge' you created (the part that goes from your acrylic bead to the faceted bead). Use a double knot and use some jewelry glue.
Put the 2mm necklace through the tube bead and your necklace is finished! To make the necklace a little longer, you can use a chain extension.
